A Peace of Threadless
Out of the new shirts Threadless released this week the “Peace” tee by Andy Gonsalves was my favorite. It’s blue (yes, blue is my favorite color), it is so simple, and it’s cute — tell me you won’t smile the next time you see a dove.
This image actually brought up a childhood memory of sitting on an iron fence at my aunt’s neighbor’s with her grandson Wayne. Every time a vehicle drove by, and it was often, we would scream at the top of our lungs, “Peace, brother!”

Silk Kaftans
You know how some people dislike the word “fat” as a descriptive and others are proud of it? Well, I dislike the word “kaftan”. Anna Scholz on the other hand has been using it for a few years and yes I’ve been incredibly resistant to it. But today I was thinking it may be a culture thing. Or perhaps she is trying to reclaim the word and make it something positive. Regardless these are NOT the kaftans your great auntie used to wear.
I love the wistful patterns on these silk tunics (see, I still have a hard time with the word) from Anna Scholz new looks for spring. LOVE THEM! The top on the left is the Silk Habotai Gathered Neck Kaftan from Anna’s White Label and is available in sizes 18 to 24 for £265. The top on the right is the Silk Georgette Square Tie Kaftan and is also from Anna’s White Label. It is available in sizes 16 to 26 for £190.
As you can see from the images the tops can be easily dressed up or dressed down depending on what you pair them with.

Sexy Plus Size Clothing
This is a new website for me. The title is kind of misleading because there just isn’t club wear or lingerie. You can order online and they also have a walk in store in Thornhill, Ontario. They don’t have a huge selection and the website is not extravagant but it’s worth checking out for something new. I found a few great everyday pieces (and one not) at very affordable prices.
This Ooh-La-La Turquoise Spot Halter Dress would look great with a black boyfriend blazer. It comes in sizes L to 2x for $44.99.
The Kaelyn-Max-II Haute Mode Blue Abstract Top ties in two trends — bold patterns and sheer fabrics. It comes in sizes 1x to 3x for $39.99.
This wing sleeve Kaelyn-Max-II Classic Olive Tunic is available in sizes 1x to 3x for $29.99.
One of the hottest patterns this season is zebra. I love this Sexy Plus Size Zebra Tunic / Short Dress. I would wear it more as a tunic with black dress pants and blazer or leggings and short black shrug. It is available in sizes 1x to 3x for $39.99.

Plus Size Short Jackets
One of the hottest trends for jackets this spring is the short jacket. At the moment, in some parts of Canada it may not be too functional but in others it’s getting closer (it was +13°C here today).
Over at Forever 21 they have quite a few short jackets unfortunately there isn’t much variety in color (which is pretty much the same everywhere at the moment). Here are some of my favorites which range in price from $29.80 to $45.80 and go up to size 3x:
In theory, I like the way they look on models but I’m not completely sold on having one myself. What about you, do you love the short jackets or prefer something a little longer?

The Versatile Workdress
I’m so in love with Igigi this week. They recently released the Chic Power Dress shown below — I swear it is my absolute favorite work/day dress style they have released. I love the draped sleeves with cute little pleats at the shoulders, the flared skirt with flat pockets and it comes with the wide Obi belt so there are two looks off the bat. The only downside is the dry clean only.
To change the look up even more there’s the Patrizia Cardigan in Chocolate which works perfectly with the colors of the dress and is versatile enough to be worn with pretty much anything else in our wardrobes. The dress and cardigan comes in sizes 12 to 32. The dress costs $108 and the cardigan costs $68. I’m totally digging those shoes too!

Cotton Ginny Comfort
When I want comfort clothing I go to Cotton Ginny. Unfortunately, my local walk in store just closed. While Cotton Ginny now has online shopping I don’t find the site particularly shopper friendly, at least not this shopper. Or plus size friendly, choices are minimal. But I did find a few pieces I really liked tonight.
The Short Shrug is a serious necessity going into spring with all the maxi dresses, camis, and tanks that will be coming our way. This one is super affordable at $25. It is available in CG plus sizes small to xlarge.
At the opposite end is the Draped Salt and Pepper Cardigan is an essential piece that can be worn casual or dressed up for the office. This style of cardigan has been one of my favorites all season. CG has it in plus sizes small to xlarge and it is on sale for $33.75 (reg. $45).
And finally, CG has 100% organic cotton jersey knit Pull On Leggings in plus sizes small to xlarge. They are available in black and are on sale for $22.50 (reg. $30).

Plus Size Retro Dresses
Overall, I’m not crazy about 80’s retro. But I do love Hollywood Glam retro. So I immediately fell in love with these two retro dresses from Pretty Things Boutique. It’s actually the same dress, different material — Juvenile Delinquent Dress. Both dresses are available in sizes up to 2x (I know 3x would be better, they do have 3x on other items) and cost $135. And yes, the belt is included! Unfortunately at the moment they have reduced sizing. I emailed them about their plus size sizing issue and they said: 
“We just had a big sale here and a lot of the items were sold out in the last couple weeks as we are getting ready to change over our seasonal stock. We are currently awaiting our new spring arrivals which should be here soon. Our plus size lines are very popular so sometimes things do sell out faster than we can replenish.”

Tunics and Tights
One of the hottest trends this past year has been tights and leggings. Honestly, I was really slow to warm up to them. Mostly because women are trying to wear them with just about anything and most can get away with it. But lets be clear. Tights, even “opaque” ones are to be worn with clothing like skirts and dresses — things that cover the ass. Leggings on the other hand are a wonderful addition for showing off long colorful tunics.
Over at Making It Big they have some great tunics that appear longer than the standards. Depending on how tall you are they might border on a skimpy dress (still only leggings, no tights). Here are a few of my favorites from Making It Big. I would pretty much add a belt to all of them. They are available in sizes 2x to 8x (read their sizing as they have their own). These ones range in price from $60 to $89:
Making It Big also carries capri and regular length plus size leggings. I recommend regular length leggings over the capri (unless you’re petite) only because they are more versatile. If you want the capri look you can always scrunch up the regular length legs to the proper height whereas you’re pretty much stuck with the capri length cut. Their leggings are available in sizes 2x to 8x in colors black, brown, and navy, for $39. If you are looking for a wider assortment of colors visit We Love Colors which has oodles of colors up to size 3x for $29.
Other important accessories to keep in mind: wide belt, wide calf boots, flats.

Outerwear Where?
In some parts of Canada, like say Eastern Ontario, it is still winter. I woke up to 10cm of freshly fallen snow. That isn’t a complaint. I’ve been waiting for the real white stuff for months. Better now then say, April? 
If you are still looking for plus size outerwear for the remaining months of the season (if you are in B.C. I really don’t want to hear about what you’re wearing), Maximum Woman has some great prices at their site. Like this Suka belted wool coat for $59.99 (reg. $150). They currently have sizes 1x and 3x in this style. There a few other nice styles in sizes 1x and 2x.
