Feminine Valentine’s Gifts

Sweet Things at Addition-Elle

One of my favorite places in Canada for plus size lingerie and sexy bras is Addition-Elle. Unfortunately, the website is not a great spot to find anything titillating so I recommend visiting one of their walk-in stores in your location if you can.

Of the bras featured on the website I would put this new Femme Fatale at the top of my list. It is available in the crimson red shown below as well as cherry, cyan, pansy purple, purple mist, and ultra marine. The sizes range from 38C to 44D. It’s tagged at a hefty price of $49.99 but as of this post the A/E website has their bras on sale for buy one get one 40% off.

The Classic Peacoat

Yes, it is still winter in most parts of Canada. While we can dream of warmer days the truth is spring is still far off for most of us. The good news is there is still time to take advantage of winter outwear sales.

One of my favorite styles for coats is the military peacoat. It has made a huge fashion trend this winter and thankfully it is not a style that goes out of style quickly.

Plus Size Sweaters

There isn’t a written rule that sweaters have to be chunky. Well, if you are out cross country skiing you might want a chunky one. But for work or for lunch out with friends chunky is a bit overdone.  Here are a few of my favorite romantic sweaters on sale at plus size clothing retailer Silhouettes.

This rose Novelty Stitch Tunic (510177) is perfect combination of practical and romantic. It works with dress pants or your favorite jeans. It is available in sizes xl to 3x for $34.99.

This vanilla Cascade Cardigan (510224) is on trend with cascading ruffle and shawl collar. If you are concerned about the color it is also available in black. It is on sale for $24.99 and comes in sizes xl to 3x.

This dusk blue Cable Tunic (510210) captures two trends with the wide sleeves and hugging hips. It is on sale for $24.99. Currently there is only xl left.

Kit Shopping at Kaliyana

Kit shopping is not a new concept but in my experience it has usually involved a lot of cheap jersey knit material that isn’t overly fashionable nor flattering. If you are not familiar with kit shopping it’s a concept of buying a kit of a select number of pieces that are designed to give the most options for less money. Like Kaliyana’s 6-pack kit which allows two to four fabric choices for six pieces that coordinate into twenty outfits! All you need to do is supply the shoes and the accessories.

The 6-pack kit includes a jacket, two tops, a tank, a skirt, and choice of pants. All pieces are made of papyrus. The kit is sold for considerable savings off the individual piece prices for $899 (that’s approximately $149 a piece). Their clothing is made in sizes up to 22.

Kaliyana concept is a good idea to keep in mind whenever you do any shopping. Six co-ordinating pieces is all it takes to freshen up your wardrobe. Imagine what you could do with 12!

I’m Like a Bird

The latest reprint at Threadless is by designer Lim Heng Swee and called “I’m like a bird”. Which instantly brings to mind the song by Nelly Furtado:

Anyway, here’s the shirt image. It’s incredibly cute (I love giraffes — they are right up there with hippos) but it is not printed on a color that works for everyone (like me). All the girlie sizes are sold out already but there are still men’s up to 2x. This Threadless tee is currently $18.

Spring Dresses

I don’t know what it is like where you are but it seems a bit early for spring. But that didn’t stop me from looking through Torrid’s look books. And what did I find? These really cute dresses that’s what! That shrugs and mini jackets that would work too.
