Old Navy Sizes Up

Finally after all these years of having an internet presence and all these years with the U.S. version of the site offering a higher range of sizes, OldNavy.ca is now offering us sizes up to 30 for plus size shoppers. It is only in their online shop so don’t go too crazy.

I had a long look at the new arrivals last week and while I am happy for the size range I was not too thrilled about the style selection. This week however they had a bunch of new stuff! Especially every day wear tops:

My favorite new arrivals from Old Navy's plus size top section.

From left to right:

  • Patterned Chiffon Shirts (four other patterns), $23
  • Pointelle Knit Sweaters (in navy too), $39
  • Drop-Shoulder Jersey Tops (three other colors), $32
  • Color Block Tunic Sweaters (one other color combo), $35
  • Military-Style Canvas Jackets (already sold out of 3x), $52
  • Boyfriend Cardis (four other colors), 37
  • Drape-Front Jersey Tunics (one other color), $27

  • Chiffon Dolman-Sleeve Blouses (also in navy), $35
  • Twill Surplus-Style Vests, $42

But there are bottoms I like too:

My favorite new arrivals from Old Navy's plus size bottoms section.

  1. I was so excited a week or so ago when I first discovered the new sizes. I could fit into the XXL sizes for many options, but if it was a wrap or buttons or jeans, no luck for me. I almost went a little crazy and then trimmed the cart down to 2 shirts and 1 pair of jeans to check for fit. Partly because it is return by mail only. I also did a quick compare between the US and the Canadian sites, and the selection is comparable.

  2. It is definitely a long time coming! I think the selection is almost exact which is good. I know I have seen on some sites where you find something you like on the US site but they don’t have it on the Canadian site which is frustrating but so far so good. Glad you found some things. Let us know what you think of the new sizes when you get hem.

  3. As an update: the order was apparently delivered on September 3. As of Friday (Sept. 6) it was no where to be found. I have contacted ON to see what will happen in this situation on Friday and still haven’t heard back. It is odd, because I have been online shopping with them from their inception (3 years ago or so) and this has never happened. Starting to get a little frustrated with the process, but hopefully things will resolve. I just like that I could buy jeans for under $40, instead of $60-$130 at Additionelle.

  4. Just curious if your Old Navy order ever turned up?

  5. They sent a replacement order, which did take as while to arrive.

Sizing is a bit off: some items were true to size, some items were too big or too small or didn’t drape right.

One thing to note for returns: it’s pretty fast for them to get the items, but can take up to three weeks to process the return, then another one to two billing cycles to actually get the money credited. I complained about tyhst, but I think they are unwilling to change that. And considering how items can only be returned by mail, I am unlikely to continue shopping with them. It should not take over TWO months to get money back.
