Summer plus size maxi dresses from Lane Bryant.

Marcy Guevara from the web show Marcy’s Minute is now appearing on Lane Bryant Fashion TV. In this video she talks about their maxi dresses; specifically prints, fit options, and accessorizing.

Of all of the plus size maxi dresses I looked at in Lane Bryant’s online store this one on model Ashley Graham (I realize I am obsessed) is my favourite. First blue, always a winner, layered over a large wispy hibiscus print. Pretty. This dress is available in dual sizes 14 to 28 for $89.95.

I love the comfort of brown. It looks great with natural or bright accessories; especially yellows and pinks. I love the texture of the layering in the bodice. It is a nice casual dress. I am not sure how tall the model is but I am hoping the dress is longer than it appears. This layered maxi dress is also available in dual sizes 14 to 28 but it is $69.95.

One of the things I wish Lane Bryant had was dresses for different heights, like they do for bottoms, petite, regular and tall options for dresses would be fabulous, no? I do not mind if a dress is too long because it can always be shortened but if a dress is not long enough there is not much you can do to make it longer.

Coats from the US

Plus size fashion coats from City Chic Online.

The U.S. shares a lot of our weather and the shipping times are reasonably quick. Bear in mind that some shops may charge more for shipping because of the weight for plus size outerwear while others do not. Here are a few of my picks from shops in the U.S.:

From City Chic Online

There is not a huge selection at City Chic Online when it comes to plus size coats but what they have is cute. At the moment they offer sizes 14 to 24. These are three of my favorites:

From Lane Bryant

It is not surprising that Lane Bryant offers a huge style choice. Their sizes range from 14 to 28. These are three of my favorites:

From Junonia

For the more active there is Junonia which has prided themselves on providing functional wear to plus size women for the last decade. If you are looking for waterproof outdoor clothing, even ski pants this is the place. They offer their plus size outerwear in sizes 1x to 6x. Here are three of my favorites:

Their cold weather selections may not be huge but if you participate in any outdoor activity and do not fall into the standard plus sizes this is the place to go.

From Ulla Popken

The selection at Ulla Popken is small but there are not many places where you can find a long plus size wool coat in sizes 12 to 38. Here are a three of my favorites:

They tend to have their stock available longer than other shops so if you find an article of clothing you like chances are you will find it again so you can order more.

Behind the Scenes at Lane Bryant

It is that time of the year again, that is right, “back to school” and new fall lines. I know, I know, my husband (a teacher) has been groaning about the TV ads for a few weeks — I do not blame him really. I hate how advertising is weeks and sometimes months ahead but I also understand it too. But I also like to see what is coming up too. With that in mind here is a teaser video of what to expect from Lane Bryant’s fall collection:

I spotted many “favorite” pieces — the red trench, the animal print dresses, the polka dotted bras, the print pants, the fur collared capelet, the yellow peasant top and all those accessories!

Perfect Fit Pants

Addition-Elle is introducing their own Perfect Fit Pants where you enter your waist, hip and inseam length into their website and it recommends the best size and fit of both jeans and dress pants.

This new system will work if your waist falls between 36 and 48 inches and your hips below 60 inches; the difference between your waist and hips must fall between 3 and 13 inches.

The final results determine whether you are slim, shaped, curvy, or versatile body type and sort which of their lines/styles fall within each realm. There’s no searching through the titles to find the coordinating cuts — one click of a button and you are transported to a listing of appropriate fits.

I have not tried the new system but if you pop in-store or try it online let me know how your final fit works out. I’m curious if the technology is up to par to Lane Bryant’s Right Fit Pants.

Stock Up on Bras

Addition-Elle has their bras on sale — buy one get second 50% off from now until February 16th. They offer pretty bras in sizes 38C to 44DDD.

My favorite style is the contour bra which is much like the Lane Bryant Balconette. There are quite a few online designs (look at the swatches once you click on the blue bra). If you have a walk-in store near you be sure to check out the designs they have.

I especially like the polka dot and plaid patterns of these contour bras. Their bras are not cheap — $49.99. In my opinion about ten bucks more than they should be but with the sale they work out to about $38 each.
