Celebrate Earth Day

Cotton Ginny will be celebrating earth day so be sure to stop by a walk-in store or online to see what promos they have on. They are all about environmental awareness and organic cottons and fair trade.

I haven’t been to the website in awhile but found two cute top in what has to be the smallest online plus size shop — where’s the clothes Cotton Ginny! (Yes, I realize that was poor grammar. I was imitating the old ladies in the Wendy’s commercials.)

Back to the tops. The first is a Kimono style top for $50 and the second is a Swing Tee for $35. Both come in Cotton Ginny’s plus sized S to XL. I notice Cotton Ginny is also shipping to the states so if you haven any plus size friends in the U.S. let them know.

***Update*** Cotton Ginny is no longer online nor does it have walk-in stores.

Toning Footwear

Toning footwear seems to be the new answer for shapely legs this season. But they are not the only brand in town. Here eight other to choose from (and as you will see there is quite the price range):

MBT has plenty of styles ranging from the traditional walking show ($245) to a cute day shoe ($149).

Fitflop has a small selection of sandals that are pretty reasonable. Both the Electra and Walkstar III are $63.99.

The Easy Spirit Antigravity collection is small but incredibly cute. Both these pairs, the Geronimo and the Oriya, are $78.95. The blue ones are even cuter because of the name.

These Sano by Mephisto are $280. I’m not sure how I feel about all the velcro I’m seeing. Love the intense red and metallic is so hot right now.

Other options include Clarks Wave line (I really didn’t like the looks of them), Avon is carrying a fit shoe, Bass Striders makes kind of a boring looking collection, and of course there are the original Sketchers. Have you seen others?

Vieta Mist Tie Die Handbag

Yes, tie die is back. And while I’m never going to be willing to wear a tie die shirt or pants, I would be more tan willing to carry this Vieta Mist Tie Die Handbag ($68 US) from Baghaus. Even though it looks like cloth it is listed as being vegan leather.

The Navy Suit

I normally say that every woman should have at least one complete suit set. And I admit I usually say black. Mostly because it goes with everything; it is easily interchangeable with other black pieces in our wardrobe; and when you look at a person, black is like a canvas — it doesn’t stand out so it becomes virtually unrecognizable from one day to the next. Which can be a good thing if you can only afford one suit.

As of today I’ve changed my thinking. I think everyone should have at least one black suit and Igigi’s new three navy suit. Yes, it’s a pretty hefty price to get all three pieces but with the versatility, mixing with your current wardrobe is boundless. I love that the suit jacket is pretty and unique looking but the pleats in the back of the skirt are fabulous. If I could only buy two of the three pieces it would definitely be the jacket and the skirt. But the jacket looks so sharp with the pants too. All three pieces come in sizes 12 to 3o. The jacket is $138, the pant is $76, and the skirt is $62.

Black and White Print

One of the trends this season is black and white. It can come in the form of mingled separates or patterns like stripes, zebra, leopard, gingham, houndstooth or plaid. Here are some of my favorite patterned pieces from Addition-Elle that rock this trend with no effort at all:

Addition-Elle also has many separates in black or white that you can mix and match with as well. Chances are your closet is already teaming with black and white pieces so add some print this spring.

Clothing Trends (to Avoid)

Marcy Guevara, roving fashion reporter for Kiyonna’s Setting the Curve gave the dish on the top trends (tongue in cheek) that women should (not) incorporate into their wardrobe. The hints start right from the title.

Happy April fools!
