Choo Choo

My favorite Jimmy Choo sandals.

Jimmy Choo that is and yes, they ship to Canada. They have a Delivery Duty Paid site which means you pay for everything before it hits your doorstep. I find it amazing that anyone would actually have to pay for shipping considering the price of the product. You’d think it’d be included even in Canada but it is an additional $20. But if you can afford a pair a Choo’s I don’t imagine $20 for shipping is much of a hindrance. There is no denying that they have beautiful shoes but I think I’d rather display them than wear them on my feet. Here are my favorites.

Winterized Docs

Winterized Docs in cherry.

My husband always gives me a hard time because I wear my regular Docs all year round. I seldom complain of cold feet when I wear them but he gives me a hard time nonetheless. If you have tried your Docs in the winter but just can’t seem to make them work they do have a winterized version. One of my favorites is the Cherry Red classic Serena with its faux Fur lining. While I’m not sure it will keep your feet any warmer it will definitely look like a winter boot. At the very least it should keep drafts to a minimum.

If you like a little fluff in your boots Dr Martens has Winterized Docs with faux fur.

Roaman’s Wide Calf Boots

Wide calf blue suede boots from Roaman's.

If you are tired of the same old black boots then you might want to look over the border to Roaman’s which has an interesting collection of wide calf boots. The styles include such options as wide, mid-calf, scrunch, leather, tall, buckle, lace (they even have over the knee boots); and they also have a line of regular shoes. It is a really nice selection and the price range is not bad either. I seem to be going through a suede phase as most of favorites are suede or textured — but my absolute favorites are both of the tall lace up boots.

An assortment of styles of wide calf boots available from Roaman's online.

From left to right:

  • Heather wide calf scrunch boot in Teal (comes in 4 other colors), $65
  • Nessie tall wide-calf lace up flat boot (3 colors), $75
  • Sophie wide-calf lace-up boots in grey (2 other colors), $65
  • Plush Boot by Easy Street in black (comes in 5 other colors including winter white and black leopard), $80
  • Sherry wide-calf boot in grey (3 other colors), $75
  • Roxy wide-calf stretch scrunch boot in red (2 other colors), $65
  • Kyla Boot in mocha (3 other colors), $75
  • Mila Boot in cognac (2 other colors), $85
  • Melia Boot in red, (3 other colors), $55
  • Jali Tall Buckle Wide Calf Boots in cognac (2 other colors), $75

All but the black ones are by Comfortview and all of these boots are currently on sale. Roaman’s ships through i-parcel so they collect duties and taxes if necessary.

Boot Alert

Wide Calf Suede boots with thick heel.

We are just starting to get some cooler nights but are you ready for boots yet? Penningtons is hoping you are! They have five styles of tall boots to choose from in their online store — not all stores carry the same stock so they might not all be available in store. The prices are pretty reasonable at $85. All of them are wider than regular calves although I’m surprised the online store does not give the calf width information to help shoppers make an informed decision. I did see last years boots and they were much wider than the usual 16″.

They currently have sizes 7W to 12W and ship throughout Canada and the U.S.

Mint Green Footwear

Studded mint green sneakers by Steve Madden.

I am going through a mint green footwear phase. It all started when a woman on Instagram I follow posted an image of these mint green sneakers (with studs!) that she found for a steal at $15. The only place I found them online was selling them for $99.

Ever since I keep doing a quick search for the sneakers. Today I found these Troopa Green Leather boots, also by Steve Madden. I love the worn leather and bright shoelaces. Nice height too that we would not have to worry so much about wide calves. You cannot see from the photo but they actually have a side zipper too — for those of us too lazy for shoe laces I guess. As much as I love these they do not scream summer fun to me so I am still holding out for the $15 mint green sneakers.

Has the mint bug bitten you this season? Or has some other color?

Boots and Jeans

Perfect Fit Denim on Ashley Graham for Addition-Elle

It has been a busy season for Addition-Elle this season. There is the usual fall line release of course but they also have some big additions namely Wide Calf Boots and Perfect Fit Denim.

The Boots

First the footwear, this is really a huge addition because they have not carried footwear before this. Addition-Elle is not just offering wide calf boots but a whole line from flats to tall boots (sister store Penningtons will be carrying their own footwear line too). Prices range in price from $25 for flats to $170 for boots. Here’s a sneak peak:

When you visit the boot section at Addition-Elle be sure to scroll down to the overview section to find out the calf width for each size — excellent feature to make shopping online easier but make sure you measure both calves and go with the largest size.

The Denim

If you have been looking for a better fit in your denim and have been longing for the better fit options available in the states, whine no further. Addition-Elle has unveiled their Perfect Fit Denim blues you see here on the hips of Ashley Graham and in the following video:

Perfect Fit Denim on Ashley Graham for Addition-Elle

They are giving you three options to choose from: Curvy, Shapely, and Versatile which should be the majority of denim wearers happy.

You will find some deeply dyed twill colors for fall and a few designer brands like DKNY, Levi’s (yes they make plus size now), Suko, Angels, Silver, Apple Bottoms and more.

I am especially looking forward to the coloured twill pants and printed denim. Denim will range in price from $60 to $130 depending on brand.

Fall Handbags and Shoes

olive and leather shoes from Naturalizer

I realize I have been on a Naturalizer kick this past year but ever since I picked up a few things from there I have been in love with so many of their products — it’s funny because I have only been in their store a few times and I do not particularly like shopping there but shopping online is another thing. The fall lookbook came this week and my love holds true. Here is a selection of my favorite handbags and shoes from their early fall preview:

Natural Sport Sneakers

Orange and Grey Natural Sport Sneakers

My favorite shoes at the moment are the Natural Sport sneakers by Dr. Scholl’s that I picked up from Naturalizer. I think they are incredibly cute (probably cuter than I should) and more comfortable than an average sneaker because of the secret in the soles.

blue wavy gel for Natural Sport Shoes

Dr Scholl’s made the Natural Sport sneakers with a special “massaging wave system” gel in the heel and forefoot.

side view of gel sole from Natural Sport shoes

Basically jellies for your feet without actually seeing the gel. As you can see it is not very thick but you can feel it as soon as you stop into them. From the moment I put them on I was in love with the unusual softness.

Natural Sport Gel Sole Shoes

That being said, that feel-good-softness is not an all day feeling, unfortunately. Even after a full day of being on the feet and walking the heels are not as happy as when they first entered the shoes — personally I would like to have a little more gel in the heel. The shoes seem a bit warm to me too with the large rubberized toe (white part) but probably no more than a standard sneaker.

Orange and Grey Natural Sport Sneakers

Even the bottom of the soles are cute.

I love the contrast of the orange and grey. There is also the option of black and neon pink, blue gingham and neon lime, and tan and orange. There are variations in the Natural Sport style as well. As of this posting these sneakers are on sale for $45 to $70 depending on style.

Even JD thought they were cute.

I ordered these sneakers online through Naturalizer. Their shopping/ordering process is pretty painless and they have super quick delivery within Canada at reasonable rates.

Old Gringo Cowboy Boots

Old Gringo Boots from Fairen Del

I’ve always wanted cowboy boots. I have always thought I wanted red cowboy boots. Yes, red. Don’t ask me why I don’t know. I probably saw them in a movie when I was a kid. But after seeing these Old Gringo Bonnie Cowboy Boots at Fairen Del — I want these boots. I’ll never get these boots but I want them. They are $539. If I could afford these boots I would eat, dance, and sleep in them! They do come in red but funnily I don’t love them as much as the brass ones. And of course, if you are tempted, they ship to Canada.

Grey T-Strap Shoes

Frye T-Strap Martas

I was crushing on Frye boots while creating a post for the other site and came across these grey Frye Mary Jane-esque shoes and had to share them with you. I heart them! I love the ripples at the thick heel, square toe and of course the t-strap. They are available at Shoes.com, which offers international shipping, for $120 US (reg $190). They’d look great with dark tights!

Going Tribal

Jersey Print Maxi Dress

La Grande Dame has one of the best looking plus size tribal print dresses I’ve seen yet. It has attached ties to control the fit. I’m not sure who the designer is. It comes in sizes 1x or 3x for $349. Check the website for “limited” promotions too.

I also came across these Blowfish Malibu sandals in black or white for $49.95 at Zappos.
